A camper at a New York State Park on the southern shore of Lake Ontario reports she saw a man with a cellphone recording her while she was showering.

New York State Police say they have arrested 50-year-old Steven Harrington of the Village of Hilton in Monroe County for felony unlawful surveillance in the August 28th incident at Hamlin Beach State Park.

Authorities say the female camper told New York State Park Police about the man with the cell phone camera and the suspect was located within the park. 

New York State Police interviewed Harrington and his phone was secured. 

He’s been ordered to appear in Town of Hamlin Court at a later date.

The campground in Western New York is considered a flagship facility in the New York State Park system drawing visitors from around New York and other parts of the U.S.

State parks and, especially camping destinations have become increasingly popular during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police have not released where the victim was from.
