New York State has set up what they are calling 'listening sessions'  in which people can express their feelings about the recreational use of marijuana in New York State. According to News Radio 1290 WNBF, a listening session will take place Tuesday, October 2nd. on The Binghamton University Campus in conference room  COE 1105. People wanting to attend should register online here. The doors will open at 5:30.

Marijuana use is only legal in New York state for medical reasons and you must have a prescription. I've said before that I believe marijuana should be legalized for recreational use in New York. I think it would benefit New York State's economy greatly. I'm sure they would make millions of dollars every year in tax revenue, not to mention the jobs that would be created with the recreational use of marijuana becoming legal in New York.

.If you have strong feelings either way on the topic you might want to get to Binghamton University tomorrow night and let your voice be heard. According to WNBF's Kathy Whyte, this is the only listening session planned in our area.

The states that already allow recreational use of marijuana are' Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington State. The use of marijuana is also legal in Washington D.C. and all of Canada.
