Reminiscing about the past. Most of us like to think back on fond memories, including places we used to love to visit in the Southern Tier of New York.

Recently, we reported a makeover in progress (long overdue) for the Northgate Plaza off Upper Front Street, Binghamton.  The first part of the project will address the facades around the existing businesses at the south end of the property, with additional phases of the job forcing on the renovation of vacant sections of the complex.

I have visited that plaza many times over the decades I have lived in this area, and of course continue to. I also remember some of the businesses that were part of the Northgate Plaza, including the Bull's Head Restaurant. Do you remember?

The restaurant is still there, even though it has been closed for a long time. I recently asked on social media for memories of a few Upper Front Street establishments that are no longer around, and the Bull's Head Restaurant was one of them.

If I remember correctly, the restaurant had a small bar, some wine barrel base tables, peanuts for all, dark interior with a cowboy-type western decor. There was a small meeting/private party room and a fireplace. Were the ceiling lights made from wagon wheels? I can't remember.

Many people commented with memories, including Lynn B. who mentioned "I got engaged at The Bulls Head in 1998 - it was on an “all you can eat King Crab leg” night! Positive remarks about King Crab Legs seemed to show up in several comments.

Since so many people loved this restaurant, wouldn't it be great if it re-opened? Bring back those all-you-can-eat King Crab Leg nights! Here are some comments we received on social media from people who miss the Bull's Head Restaurant. I bet they would like to see it return, even though we know it most likely won't, but never say never!

Daniele B. noted "Bulls Head was always our date night place for me and my husband!

Pamela G. noted how much her family misses the Bull's Head - "We rented the banquet room for many family celebrations. We loved the cozy fireplace in the bar area. We enjoyed burgers there. Our favorite entree was salmon with dill hollandaise sauce and steamed asparagus spears with rice pilaf.

Robin H. says The Bulls Head was her first waitressing job "with the most amazing women that worked there. To this day, some of my best friends. Keep in mind, they were “King Crab” and not snow crab. We had the t-shirts to display."

Lisa C. also commented about The Bull's Head Restauant's all-you-can-eat King Crab Legs in addition to "shelled peanuts in the bar with stone fireplace, Cajun Steak, Coquilles St. Jacques, and the Thick Cut Prime Rib."

Joseph M. says "The Bull's Head was my go-to place for popcorn, breaded wings, small burgers, and beer. It is sorely missed.

Joe B. was in a band that played at The Bull's Head Restaurant- "My band, Night Train, was the House Band at The Bulls Head for many years! Bill Earl, the owner, always treated us great. He was a great guy.
