It's a sure sign the end of summer is near. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Johnson City Field Days starting this Friday. The rides are already showing up. I remember every time we would drive down Route 17 or head down Harry L Drive, we would see the rides and I would say to my stepson in it's almost time to go back to school dude.

The Johnson City Field Days are always a good time. Great food along with the rides and entertainment. This year is no exception. Rides are just $2 each or you can buy ten rides for $15. Saturday is the Kids Day special from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. where you get four rides for just $5.

There is always great entertainment at the Johnson City Field days as well. This year on Saturday night you can check out southern rock with the Nick Gravelding band, and on Monday it's Miles Ahead and Old Friends on stage. Friday Splash will be performing starting at 7 and Sunday there is a Polka Band that will be followed by the Wild Ones with Jo Whitney.

Then the festival and summer vacation for school kids, ends with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on Labor Day. Admission is free all four days.
