My Labor Day weekend celebration will be at the campground for the most part. At least that's the plan currently. Hopefully no bees will interrupt my fun this weekend (Click here if you missed my birthday bee sting adventure.)

The campground always has three days full of fun with action, including horseshoe tournaments, bingo of course, hot dog and hamburger cookouts, music and other activities while keeping everyone safe.

One of the things the campground owners do at the end of the Labor Day weekend is very cool. Armed with a crew of hard working campers, a few pick-up trucks, a couple thousand white sandwich bags, sand and tea candles, they place these luminaries on all the roads around camp.

At dusk, we light up the candles on the road nearest our campground and everyone walks or drives around camp admiring the beauty of it all. It''s a cool way to end another great camping season.

And as of now, to round out my Labor Day weekend, I will be taking a trip to Altoona, Pennsylvania to pick up my new Greyhound. Well, for the second time. He broke his leg on the track when he was racing in West Virginia, and that ended his career. After surgery, we brought him home in early August, but due to some complications, had to return him to the adoption group until he healed more and had follow up surgery to remove a plate.

The surgery was successful earlier this week, and barring any complications, I'll be bringing him home on Labor Day to add to my Greyhound family.
