The event is being hosted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday by Mirabito at its gas station and convenience store across from Target on the Vestal Parkway.

In addition to collecting new toys for children in the area at the location, Mirabito is holding a gas sale and serving refreshments. It's rumored Santa and an elf or two may also be on hand, socially-distanced, of course.

Charity spokesperson, Liz Bucci says the severe impact of the pandemic on the community will make the need for toys greater this ear than ever before.  Bucci notes the large number of people in Broome who have faced layoffs and furloughs as a result of temporary and even permanent closures of businesses who now face financial stress for the first time.

This is the 13th year for the campaign.  The donated toys will be turned over to Broome County Toys for Tots to be distributed to children through the county.
