Learn something new every day. Isn't that what we are taught? Most days, I learn something that I shouldn't be doing, but I'm sure that's not the point of the saying.

But, I did learn about something today that I wasn't aware of. It's called the Disc Golf Ice Bowl. It's a sports tournament where you throw a disc at a target, using rules similar to golf during the winter months. Usually, the disc is made out of polypropylene plastic.

For those who love the game, there are communities around the world that hold Disc Golf Ice Bowls. According to the Ice Bowl Facebook page, in 2021, there were 160 Ice Bowl events, and each raises money for a local charity. Over $420,000 dollars was raised worldwide last year.

These Disc Golf Ice Bowl events take place during the months of January, February, and March. And one just happened last Saturday (January 5th)  in the Binghamton area. According to WICZ TV Fox 40, the 3rd annual Ice Bowl occurred at the Campville Commons Disc Golf Course located off Brainard Street in Endicott with the Greater Binghamton Disc Golf Club.

I love the slogan above the Ice Bowl name on the Ice Bowl website that states "No Wimps, No Whiners." Basically means unless there is an emergency, nothing will keep these players from their game day.

WICZ TV Fox 40 mentions that the charity for the Disc Gold Ice Bowl in Endicott this year is the Tioga Rural Ministries food bank. If you'd like to check out an Ice Bowl, there will be one held at Thornden Park in Syracuse, on March 6th according to the Ice Bowl website.
