Disgruntled Former Broome Developmental Employee Arrested

A Norwich man, recently let go from his job at the Broome Development Center in the Town of Dickinson, is facing several charges for allegedly going back to his former workplace and refusing to leave.

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies say 42-year-old Robert Loiselle was said to be walking around inside the building shortly at 7:39 a.m. January 5, carrying a backpack and grabbing his coat pocket, implying he had a weapon.

Deputies found Loiselle in his vehicle and tried to talk to him about his intentions but he was uncooperative and began fighting with authorities when he got out of his vehicle.  The officer deployed a Taser in order to take Loiselle into custody.

Officials say they found he had a pellet handgun in his vehicle that looked like a real pistol which he had been carrying in his pocket inside the building.  He was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.

Loiselle is charged with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass and falsely reporting an incident.

He’s been ordered to appear in Town of Dickinson court at a later date.
