Last year, our Townsquare Binghamton radio stations spent part of our weekend at the Matthews Auto Walk-a-Thon. The walk-a-thon was held in two locations - Vestal and Norwich.

We took the scenic ride up Route 12 to the Norwich portion of the walk-a-thon for the day. This year, the event returns for its 6th year! Matthews Auto began the Annual Walk-A-Thon to incorporate their team in a healthy challenge while benefiting local charities. In the first year, the walk-a-thon had over 600 walkers and 4,500 miles pledged.

The annual Matthews Auto Walk-a-Thon benefits several local children’s charities, including A Room To Heal, Lourdes Hospice Camp Hope for Kids, the Chenango County Child Advocacy Center in Norwich, Gigi's Playhouse, Mom's House, Toys for Tots and Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.

This year's event will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024. For every mile walked, Matthews donates ten dollars and will match cash donations up to a total of one hundred thousand dollars. Again this year, there will be two locations - at the Rail Trail in Vestal and at Weiler Park in Norwich.

The Vestal event at the Rail Trail will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the Norwich Weiler Park location will kick off at 9 a.m. In addition to the walk-a-thon in Norwich, there will also be food trucks, a petting zoo, and games.

Or, if you can't get to either location, you can do a virtual walk from wherever you want! Come out and help Matthews Auto support local charities. It's an easy walk at both locations at your pace. Get more information and register at  Matthews walk-a-thon.com.
