Cortland County Man Faces Felony Counts in Domestic Dispute With Claw Hammer
A Cincinnatus man is being charged with four felony counts in connection with a domestic incident in Cortland County.
Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in the Town of Cuyler March 30 and said 37-year-old Steven Gonzalez allegedly forced his way through a locked door into a home where his girlfriend and their 9-year-old child were living. Authorities say the man is accused of engaging the woman in physical contact while possessing a claw hammer. The woman did not sustain serious injury and the child was not harmed.
Gonzalez is charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon, felony unlawful imprisonment, felony reckless endangerment, misdemeanor menacing, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and a violation count of harassment.
He was sent to the Cortland County Jail to await arraignment.
