Delaware County Crash Lands Brooklyn Man in Jail
Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say a Brooklyn man is facing drug charges after crashing a stolen vehicle in Franklin.
Sheriff’s officials say they were called about a crash on July 2nd on County Route 21 in Franklin.
Authorities say they found the vehicle had been reported stolen out of New York City in June.
Deputies searched the stolen car and say they found a loaded gun, money and a quantity of drugs as well as drug paraphernalia.
29-year-old Victor Grandel of Brooklyn was one of three people in the car that was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.
Grandel is being charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.
He was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to answer to the charges at a later date.
The other two people who had been in the car and treated for injuries at an area hospital are still on the loose.
Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say arrest warrants have been issued for those two other occupants of the wrecked vehicle.
The authorities have not identified the suspects or released any descriptions. It’s not known if those individuals are also from downstate. Sheriff’s investigators did not elaborate as to what charges the pair may face once they are apprehended by law enforcement on the outstanding warrants.
The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Walton Police Department, Walton Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Franklin Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
