Deputies say they also found Woodman to be in possession of the gun.  The type of weapon involved was not revealed in the news release. Authorities had not indicated why they were called to the location prior to finding that the Cortland man was wanted on the outstanding warrant.

Authorities say Woodman is charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon. There was no background given on Woodman but New York State law prohibits those convicted of certain crimes, particularly felonies, from owning or being in control of a firearm.  Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, the charge filed against Woodman, also pertains to the ownership of a firearm that is defaced, including scratching parts of or removing serial numbers to conceal a crime and/or modifying a weapon.
