No injuries are reported after fire crews from several departments were called to a report of a house fire at 517 Johnson Road in Kirkwood April 6.

A second alarm was sounded shortly after 9 a.m. with requests for additional personnel and fire investigators.

Heavy smoke was reported coming from the house and Broome County Emergency Communications officials said they believed the smoke may be visible from nearby State Route 17/ Interstate 86.

Reports indicate the home may have been unoccupied but there's no word concerning how long it had been vacant or when the last authorized person had been inside the structure.

While the cause of the fire is under investigations, authorities say it appears the blaze began in the kitchen.

The fire was out in less than a half hour.
