Home on Dedrick Hill Road Damaged by Fire
Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a two-alarm blaze late in the afternoon of Wednesday, October 26 that damaged a home in the Town of Chenango.
Firefighters and equipment from about a half-dozen companies were called to a home at 6 Dedrick Hill Road at around 3:30 p.m. with several calls coming into to emergency communications about smoke coming from the house.
Firefighters arriving on the scene reported seeing smoking coming from the basement but the blaze quickly moved upstairs to the first floor. There were no injuries.
There’s no word on the extent of the damage to the home but the fire was enough to scramble several fire trucks, tankers, tower truck and a brush fire unit.
The house is located near the intersection of Dunham Hill Road. The home is a two-story wood frame construction. The site is located a short distance to the west of Interstate 81 and State Route 11 in Castle Creek and motorists on the highway could see the smoke from the fire.

The blaze was reported out in less than an hour with crews beginning to look for hotspots in the walls and cleaning up the scene.
There was no information available this morning concerning the number of residents living at the address or whether anyone was home at the time.
It’s not known if the home was inhabitable overnight. More assessment of the damage is expected to be done October 27.
