According to the Broome County Executive’s Office, beginning January 8th, 2024, flights will resume to and from the Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) and Detroit Metro (DTW) located in Romulus, Michigan.

Delta will be using CRJ-900 airplanes which can accommodate 76 passengers with two-class service. The previous Delta aircraft that flew into and out of Binghamton Airport was a CRJ-200, accommodating 50 passengers with one-class service.

Detroit has historically been a great connection for our community. Detroit is the primary Asian gateway for the Eastern United States and it also provides service to many destinations in the Americas and Europe. We’re excited to be offering larger planes for travelers to and from BGM, and along with our new direct flights to Florida, it’s the perfect time to Fly BGM. - Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.

With this new service beginning in January of 2024, Delta will discontinue the daily flights to and from Binghamton and LaGuardia in New York City.

The Detroit flights will be daily Monday through Sunday, featuring an early morning flight out of Binghamton, and the return flight will leave Detroit in the evening, landing in late evening in Binghamton. This will allow it to be easier to connect to morning departures from Detroit.

We had great success with Delta’s hub in DTW in the past on a smaller plane. Now, our business and leisure travelers should be able to fully utilize the opportunities afforded by the larger plane that will provide at least two classes of service, creating more comfortable flights with additional amenities Additionally, the return of the early morning flight time on this route, it will allow for better access to more connections both domestically and internationally. - Mark Heefner, Broome County’s Commissioner of Aviation

Tickets for flights to Detroit and back to Binghamton went on sale on October 21st.
