Air Show Returning to Binghamton, Drive-In Style
As we step into the twelfth month of what we initially believed would only be a two-week pause, we’re collectively starting to go stir crazy as we’ve spent the better part of a year starting at the four walls of our homes, craving events, activities, and social interaction.
As officials report to us that COVID cases are declining and as the world around us is slowly opening back up, excitement is building at the possibility of actually doing something less monotonous than what we’ve been doing for all of these excruciatingly long months.
Governor Cuomo made a couple of exciting announcements this week including that he will allow all movie theaters in New York to open at 25 percent capacity starting a week from today which is Friday, March 5. The governor also hinted at the possibility that the New York State Fair may make its return this summer.
And now some exciting news a little closer to home. Yesterday, Broome County officials along with Jeff Gural, owner of Tioga Downs announced that the Greater Binghamton Air Show will return this year however, it will be drive-in style.
The Greater Binghamton Air Show will take place on Saturday, July 17, and Sunday, July 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Greater Binghamton Airport. Air Show performances have not been announced yet, but officials say those details will be shared in the near future on the website for the Air Show.
Just as exciting as the news of the return of the Air Show is the news is that for the first time in 17 years, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds will be part of the Air Show in their Lockheed F-16CJ Fighting Falcon aircraft.
As the date of the Air Show gets a bit closer, more information will be released regarding admission and other logistics.
