FAA Federal Funding for Regional Airports

According to his website United States Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) have announced a grant of over 4.4 million dollars to fund Southern Tier Airports

The US Department of Transportation has awarded $4,494,165 in Federal Aviation administration funds to Greater Binghamton Airport/Edwin Link Field, Elmira/Corning Regional Airport, Albert S Nader Regional Airport, Corning-Painted Post, Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport and Hudson Valley Regional Airport

The website said that the funding will be used to help with several airport safety and quality improvement projects, that could include the rehabilitation and construction of new taxiways of taxi new lighting and firefighting safety equipment, remodeling of terminal buildings and more.

The community and economy depend on air travel, and maintaining the infrastructure of our regional airports is vital.

Senator Gillibrand says “This funding is key to ensuring the continued economic stability and success of this region”

Elmira Corning Regional Airport will receive over $1.5 Million and Binghamton/Edwin Link Field will receive $500,000
