What You Need To Know Ahead Of Binghamton Parade Day
It's back after a year hiatus and we couldn't be happier. It's the Hibernian St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 5th. It's going to be the 54th year of celebrating Irish in the Southern Tier
The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m.with Mass at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, 192-194 Court Street in Binghamton. I hear that if you hang rosary beads outside of the church, the weather will be good for the parade.
Will The Weather Cooperate?
The weather is looking good (so far) for the parade with a cloudy sky with a 20% chance of rain, and temperatures in the lower 40's. You'll wait to dress warm but it's certainly been a lot colder and wetter than this.
If you attend many downtown Binghamton parades then you know what direction it goes... except for this one. I like to say that this parade goes backward and I'm okay with that.
Binghamton St. Patrick's Day Parade Route
The parade steps off after Mass with a scheduled starting time of 1:30 p.m. The parade will be led by the Belmar Parade Day Mile race beginning at the Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street to the Belmar Pub, 95 Main Street.
The parade itself starts at Mirabito Stadium, 211 Henry Street, takes a left at Amici Restaurant, 126 1/2 Henry Street and right on to Court Street, and ending at the Belmar Pub
Here is something to keep in mind when attending the parade this year. There will be a larger police presence this year and strict enforcement of open container laws is anticipated. So don't let your open container ruin your good time.
This year's parade will be televised live near the reviewing stand at the Post 80 American Legion, 76 Main Street. The theme for this year's parade is "Irish Eyes Are Smiling Again"
The Biggest Question About The Binghamton St. Patrick's Day Parade
The biggest question that we get about the parade every year is: Why is the St. Patrick's Day Parade, two weeks before St. Patrick's Day? I'm told it's because that's when we can get the Mummers in town.
We are thrilled it's back and we can't wait to see you there on Saturday, March 5th at 1:30 p.m.
