Papers filed in court by the Town of Union Supervisor claims she was the point of an investigation into allegations she bullied subordinates because she is a woman.

Rose Sotak is suing the town board and alleges District Attorney Stephen Cornwell and the all-male board violated her constitutional rights.  She is seeking a half-million dollars in damages.

Initial complaints against the Town Supervisor resulted in the Town Council investigating the allegations and looking into whether Sotak should be removed from office.

Sotak last year was indicted on five charges, including felony corrupt use of authority, to which she pleaded not guilty.  The case was overturned in July under the court’s opinion that evidence presented did not support the charges.

District Attorney Stephen Cornwell had indicated intentions to appeal, but that was withdrawn in October.

There is no information available as to when those singled out in the lawsuit must respond.
