Three Men Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit on Interstate 81
A vehicle that had been reported stolen crashed in a wooded area in the Town of Kirkwood following a police chase.
Authorities say a New York State Police zone sergeant tried to stop the vehicle on Interstate 81.
The driver did not pull over and continued to travel south before leaving the highway at Exit 1. Witnesses told police that the occupants of the vehicle ran away after it crashed off Cedarhurst Road.
One of the suspects was taken into custody a short time later by the zone sergeant. Binghamton police detained another suspect near a fire station on Main Street in Kirkwood. City police officers helped to track down the third suspect near a Kirkwood convenience store.
State police identified the suspects as 23-year-old Christopher White of Brooklyn, 27-year-old Naquan McMaster of Brooklyn and 18-year-old Konnor Scharborough of Elmira. All three were charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
