The American Heart Association announced today (Friday) that the 31st Annual Southern Tier Heart Walk has been postponed.  The Walk was scheduled for Sunday, April 5 at SUNY Broome.

In a statement from Kristy Smorol, Communications Director for the Southern Tier branch of the American Heart Association, the decision to postpone the Walk comes from guidance from the CDC and state and local health officials on the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  "The safety of our guests has been and will continue to be our top priority."

The Heart Association team is working on a new date to hold the Walk and will continue to assess the situation.  News Radio 1290 is a media sponsor for the event.  We will have news pertaining to the Walk when a date is announced.  Heart Association personnel will be be corresponding with guests who have registered to participate.  Any updated information can be found at:

A goal of $380,000 has been set for this year's Walk. Proceeds go to help in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
