Broome County Parks Scarecrow Contest Returns At Otsiningo Park

Welcome to September! The first day of Autumn is September 22nd, and the Southern Tier is full of great fall activities.

It's Time For Scarecrow Display Fun!

One in particular is an annual event from the Broome County Department of Parks and Recreation. The Parks Department is looking for creative and crafty people and organizations to participate in this year's edition of the Annual Scarecrow Display & Contest.

Each year, Otsiningo Park in Binghamton fills up with amazing scarecrow displays. The imagination runs wild! 2026 is the 11th year for this fun competition, which runs from October 1st through October 23rd.

Broome County Parks Department organizers of the event note that Otsiningo Park "will be filled with creative, colorful, and imaginative scarecrows as individuals, families, businesses, clubs, groups, and organizations compete for the chance to be named one of the park’s favorite scarecrows."

Use your imagination: create a traditional scarecrow, a funny character, or something unique. By the way, it's free to participate.

So, What Do You Need To Know To Participate?

Get your entry form in no later than September 24th. Scarecrows need to be completed at Otsiningo Park by October 1st, as voting will immediately begin. The voting period will end on October 23rd.

Get your team together - family, friends, workplace, organizations, whatever - come up with your idea, and fill out that form. Entry forms and more information are available through the Broome County Parks and Recreation website.
