This Sunday is Mother's Day and if your mother is still alive consider yourself blessed. I lost my mother 14 years ago but it still feels like yesterday since I spoke to her last. My mother was a special person. She always put the needs of her seven kids ahead of her own. Being that we were such a big family we didn't have many fancy things, but my mother always made sure that we were nicely dressed and presentable. She taught us right from wrong and taught us to help others whenever we could. As a kid, I would make my mother a present in art class in school every year. And, even though I knew it looked like crap, she would be so excited because I made it for her. Back then I couldn't cut a straight line nor could I color inside the lines (and still can't today), but my mother would act as if I gave her the Mona Lisa.

On the Saturday before the last Mother's Day before my mom passed, Chris and I picked up her mother and headed off to my hometown to pick up my mother.  We took them both out for a fancy Mother's Day dinner at a restaurant at Crystal Lake. They both had a great time and we enjoyed spending time with both of them. On the way home after dropping them both off, Chris and I spoke about making that an annual event. My mother passed away the following year and my mother-in-law passed away in 2011.

Remember, you only get one mother so cherish her and make her feel special especially on her special day. Happy Mother Day to all the mothers out there. I hope you have an awesome day.
