Some minor flooding is a possibility for the Twin Tiers for Mother's Day Weekend as the National Weather Service is forecasting one to two inches of rain for the region.

According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for the weekend, forecasters say there is a “marginal risk for excessive rainfall” and some minor flooding or ponding of water in low lying areas through Saturday, May 7.

While no serious flooding is expected, people living near flood-prone areas should remain aware of the conditions and travelers should take into account changing conditions and watch for ponding on roadways.

A low pressure system is bringing moisture into the area from the south and west with areas of rain more likely south of Syracuse.

Temperatures through the weekend will be trending below the normal average.  High temperatures for the region for the beginning of May should be in the mid-60s.

A warming trend is being forecast for next week, however with sunny skies and temperature topping out in the 70s.
