According to the updated statement posted by NOAA at 3:39 a.m., the Greater Binghamton area was projected to get mixed precipitation from the storm with total snow accumulations of one to four inches.  The ice accumulation was expected to consist of a light glaze.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say a period of snow was projected to move into the region during the evening hours of Tuesday before likely changing over to a wintery mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and some lingering snow late Tuesday, November 15 into the following morning.

The mixed precipitation could cause some issues on the roadways overnight and into the Wednesday morning commute.

While the Binghamton metro forecast was calling for overnight snow accumulation of around 2 inches with little or no ice accumulation on Tuesday, forecasters cautioned higher amounts of snow could pile up at the higher elevations.

Areas in the watch area to the west of Binghamton, like Ithaca in Tompkins County, were forecast to see new snow accumulation on Tuesday night of less than an inch.

The story is much more sobering for western New York where a Winter Storm Watch for 7 p.m. November 16 to 7 p.m. November 20 was advising of snow accumulations of one to two feet in the more persistent lake snows in Southern Erie County from Wednesday evening through Sunday evening.

The Twin Tiers so far is expecting little or no snow after the Tuesday night system moves out of the area.
