April 1st is more than just the beginning of a new month or April Fool's Day. It's also the end of that unpopular, but necessary, alternate street parking rule in various municipalities in the Southern Tier of New York.

Today, March 31, 2025, marks the final day of alternate side of the street parking for the Village of Johnson City. In my neighborhood, I have enjoyed watching vehicles being ticketed for parking on the wrong side of the street over the past few months. Is that cruel? Admit it, you'd enjoy it as well. That is, as long as it's not your vehicle getting the ticket.
