A 73-year-old Broome County resident has been sentenced to a prison term for not registering his email accounts.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York, Thomas Redeker of Endicott failed to update his sex offender registration by maintaining unregistered email accounts.

Redeker on Wednesday was sentenced to 10 months in prison and fined $2,000.

As part of a previous plea agreement, Redeker admitted that in 2004 he was convicted of production of child pornography and crossing a state line to engage in sex with someone under the age of 12.

Redeker acknowledged that although he was registered as a sex offender in New York, he did not register three email accounts that he had created.
