A Spencer resident has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison for failing to register an email account as required because he is designated as a sex offender.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 49-year-old Paul Wyak had previously been convicted of a charge of distribution of child pornography.

The conviction required him to register as a sex offender for 25 years and to keep the information current, including his email accounts.

A news released indicated Wyak admitted he did not register at least one email account he created.

Wyak was sentenced to 21 months in prison followed by ten years of supervised released.
