Man Travels from Kalamazoo to New York for Sex With Child
Federal Prosecutors in Central New York say a Michigan man will serve 10 years in prison for traveling to New York for the purpose of having sex with a ten-year-old child.
Officials with the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District say 76-year-old Robert Hardin of Kalamazoo admitted he engaged in sexually explicit messages online and by text with an undercover officer her believed was the mother of a little girl before traveling to New York in August, expecting a sexual encounter with the child.
Hardin has been in custody since his arrest upon arrival in New York.
In addition to the ten-year prison sentence for the Kalamazoo man’s guilty plea, he is to serve 20 years on supervised post-release supervision and pay a $100 special assessment. Hardin is also required to register as a sex offender.
