Johnson City Rapist’s Appeal Denied
A Johnson City man’s rape conviction is being upheld and he will be registered as a sex offender after completing his 4 years in prison.
The New York State Appellate Division has ruled 31-year-old Steven Silva waived his right to appeal when he pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old girl in 2018.
He was sentenced in September 2019 to four years in New York State prison followed by ten years post-release supervision.

According to the Broome County District Attorney’s office, Silva was 27-years-old when he admitted having sex with the teenaged girl in Johnson City.
The Appellate Court ruled Silva’s plea was voluntary and he had waived his appellate rights.
