Spectrum News is reporting that the Elmira Police Department is warning residents of drugs in the Elmira area that are made to look like Sweet Tart candies.

According to the report, it's actually a mix of heroin, Fentanyl, and Xanax. The drugs even have an “S” on them which kind of looks like the Sweet Tart logo.

The report also states that the Elmira Police Department is warning people not to even touch these pills unless they use gloves as a precaution.

I can only think of two reasons why someone would do this. One is in case they get caught with them, law enforcement might think they're actual Sweet Tarts and not drugs.

Or, worse yet, drug dealers might make them look like candy so kids will try them and when they get hooked they can make money off them.

Either way, Elmira is very close to the Binghamton area and it could only be a matter of time before these drugs make their way East.

It might be a good time to remind your kids and grand kids about stranger danger, and especially not to take candy from strangers.
