This Saturday will be a great day to take the bike or even just your car out for a ride. This Saturday is the annual Reach for the Ride Motorcycle and Car Ride to benefit the Tioga County Open Door Mission.

According to the Tioga County Open Door Mission’s Facebook page, the ride will start at their location at 425 North Avenue in Owego. The ride starts at 10 a.m. and will travel from Owego over to 32 Lyle Road in Barton New York. It's $20 per driver and $10 for riders with all the money going to benefit the Open Door Mission.

The Tioga County Open Door Mission has been supporting people in need in Owego and Tioga County since 1968. It's a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides housing, food, clothing, and even financial help to families in Tioga County.

One of the main fundraisers of the mission is their thrift store. And with the Coronavirus forcing the closure of stores, I'm sure they haven't been able to raise as much money as they have in years past. And due to the pandemic, I'm sure they have even more people than normal reaching out to them for help. That's why this fundraiser is so important.

So if you own a bike why not get your friends together and join the ride this Saturday. The weather will be perfect because it's supposed to be mostly sunny and cool, which means you won't sweat too much in your leather jacket and helmet.

Even if you don't ride a bike, you can follow behind the bikes in your car and still help the mission.
