Welcome to our Classic Rock Throwback Thursday! Today we hop back into the Whale time machine to travel back to another great rock-n-roll event.

The date is June 16th, 1967. The place is Monterey, California, and is the first day of a three day concert event during the Summer of Love that will go down in rock history, billed as the Monterey International Pop Festival.

Over the three day festival, concert-goers were entertained by many performers, including The Mamas & Papas, Otis Redding, The Animals,The Who, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jefferson Airplane and Ravi Shankar.

The festival was a big part of 1960s culture. For this week's Classic Rock Throwback Thursday, let's look in on The Who performing My Generation, June 18th, 1967 at the Monterey International Pop Festival.
