Man Shot By Vestal Police Suspected in Pennsylvania Shooting
Investigators say the man wounded following a highway standoff in Vestal is wanted for a shooting incident in Pennsylvania a few hours earlier.
Authorities say 29-year-old Colin Yurick of Brighton, Michigan, remains hospitalized in intensive care after he was shot twice on Route 17 in Vestal on May 13.
Police say they don't know why Yurick was in Vestal but he is suspected of firing pellets at people earlier in the evening outside a gas station in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
A Vestal police officer shot Yurick after the man allegedly pulled a handgun from his side while he was in a car that was parked on the highway. Yurick was taken into custody after a nearly-three-hour standoff.
Yurick is to be charged with menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the Vestal incident.
Bethlehem Township police have issued warrants for Yurick on several charges, including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering and harassment related to the earlier shooting.
Vestal police say when Yurick was taken into custody, a Sig Sauer pellet pistol fell to the ground.
Investigators say Yurick was arrested in Michigan last August for brandishing a pellet pistol during a dispute.
