Following in line with other major sports Major league Baseball has suspended Spring Training operations effective at 4:00 PM Eastern Time today (Thursday). This covers teams that are training in both Florida and Arizona.  Afternoon games were being played and completed.

Following a meeting of Major League owners earlier today the decision was made to bring organized baseball training sessions to a halt.

In conjunction with that announcement Major League Baseball (MLB) will postpone the opening of the regular season for a minimum of two weeks.

Initial response from at least some of the players in Spring Training was that many will remain at their base of operations to either work out on their own or train elsewhere if needed.

MLB is following in line with the NBA and the NHL.  The NBA suspended operations on Wednesday and the NHL suspended its operations earlier today (Thursday).  The NCAA has now announced that it's men's and women's National Championship Tournaments have been cancelled.  Several major conferences have cancelled their basketball tournaments including the ACC of which Syracuse is a member.  The Orange defeated North Carolina last night and were scheduled to meet Louisville tonight before the remaining part of the tournament got cancelled.
