Monday night the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars 2 to zero to win the Stanley Cup Finals 4 games to 2 and win their second Stanley Cup in the team’s history. Just like the NBA and a lot of other sports, when the Coronavirus outbreak started in the middle of March, the NHL paused their season.

After a four and a half month hiatus, the National Hockey League resumed their season playing in two hub cities in Canada. The teams, coaching staff, and employees, all had to remain in their bubbles until their team was eliminated, or in Tampa's case, won the Stanley Cup.

I think the idea of the hub cities worked out better than anyone imagined. Even though there were no fans in attendance for the games, the teams still played with high intensity. From the time the season restarted in August, until the final seconds ticked off the clock on Monday, there was not one positive covid-19 case inside the bubbles.

Even though my Philadelphia Flyers did not win the championship this year, I still enjoyed watching the entire playoff run. It was also nice to hear Commissioner Gary Bettman be introduced without a chorus of boos.

I think Bettman has done an awesome job as commissioner and is usually greeted with boos just because he is the commissioner. Bettman and his staff did an incredible job executing the final two months of the season and they deserve an awful lot of credit.
