Loop The Lemur With Confluence Running At The Ross Park Zoo
Walks, runs, 5K events. You know it's spring in the Southern Tier of New York when these fun events pop up on weekend schedules. The Southern Tier Heart Walk and the Binghamton Bridge Run have happened so far this spring among others, and that's just the beginning.
Another fun run and walk is set to happen on Saturday May 13th with the Confluence Running Event Loop the Lemur 1, 2 and 6 Hour Race and Kids Fun Run. You may wonder just what a Lemur has to do with this race. Well, nothing actually, except for watching the runners.
This race is actually in it's 2nd year from Confluence Running, featuring a timed endurance event occurring at the Ross Park Zoo, off Morgan Road, Binghamton.
According to Confluence Running, participants will loop the Ross Park Zoo Lemurs as many times as they can, choosing from one of four timed events of 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours or the Lemur to Leopard Family Fun Run.
The loop is eight-tenths of a mile long, and it's your choice to run, walk, stroll, or whatever fun way to Loop the Lemurs that you prefer. As for the Lemurs - Menabe and Rizzo? They will probably be relaxing, enjoying a warm, lazy sunny day in their habitat as you run or walk by.
The 6 hour race will take off at 7 am, the 2 hour race at at 8:30 am, the 1 hour race at 9:30 am, and the Family Fun Run will commence at 11 am.
Confluence Running notes that the black-and-white ruffed lemur, sadly, is a critically endangered friend. A portion of the proceeds will go back to the Ross Park Zoo in support of their efforts of conservation of their endangered species.
