It finally felt like spring this weekend in the Binghamton area. Saturday and Sunday both turned out to be mild spring days. When I checked the weather on Saturday and saw that Sunday was supposed to be nice, I called En-Joie and made a tee time.

I went with my wife Chris and our friend Nick. It was the first round of the year this season for both Nick and me, but my wife was on a golf trip in North Carolina last weekend.

The course just opened on Friday and the greens were in very good shape. The fairways were a lot greener than my backyard, but not quite in mid-summer shape yet. On the first two holes, I hit the green in regulation but proceeded to three-putt both holes.

By the time we got to hole number 8, I was starting to get into a little bit of a rhythm. I didn't have any birdies but I did land a couple of pars. And for being the first time I swung a club since October, I was satisfied.

One of these years I will hit a driving range for a couple of days prior to hitting the golf course. But at least it was nice to get out there and swing a club.

I can't wait for next month when our golf league begins at Conklin. Besides that league and my frequent Player Club Card from En-Joie, I will be golfing at least once but hopefully twice a week.
Here to a nice long, dry golf season.
