Hancock Man Accused of Raping Underage Girl
A Hancock man is being charged with rape and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 17 last year.
23-year-old Travis Jennings was released following his arraignment.
Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say they arrested Jennings after receiving information about an incident in the Town of Hancock during August of last year.
Sheriff Craig DuMond, a strong opponent of the bail reforms passed by New York State last year blasted Jennings’ release calling it: “another example of the failed bail reform legislation in New York State”. The Sheriff says he finds it “unconscionable the Governor and State Legislature support the immediate release of a defendant charged with sex crimes involving a child.”
