Groton Woman Accused of Threatening Person With a Knife-Twice

A Central New York woman is being charged with menacing after allegedly threatening a person with a knife twice in as many days. 

New York State Police say they were called on October 9 about a report of a dispute on Ward Boulevard in the Town of Newfield in Tompkins County and found 25-year-old Cypress Janna Hill of Groton had kicked in the door of a home, entered and threatened a person with a knife.   

Troopers say Hill was accused of violating an order of protection at the home. 

Then, on October 10, Troopers were again summoned to an incident reportedly involving the Groton woman. 

Authorities say they received a report Hill menaced the same person again with a knife near the intersection of Millard Hill and Elmira Road in the Town of Newfield.

Troopers say as a result of the two reports, the 25-year-old is charged with the class B felony of Burglary in the first degree, the class E felony of Criminal Contempt in the first degree as well as misdemeanor Menacing in the second degree.  The misdemeanor count was for the second reported incident. 

Authorities did not indicate the victim had suffered any injury in either of the reported incidents.   

There is no information concerning the relationship between Hill and the alleged victim or what sparked the initial dispute.  Police also did not say why there was already an order of protection in place concerning the Ward Boulevard address. 

Hill was processed at the State Police barracks in Ithaca and sent to  Tompkins County Central Arraignment and Processing.
