When someone says "High School Football In the Southern Tier", what school do you think of? Most people will say Chenango Forks or Maine Endwell. Of course, we can't forget about some of the great players that came from Union-Endicott like Chandler and Arthur Jones, and Isaiah Kacyvenski.

Another name that you might recognize is Chris Snee. He played just over the border in Montrose Pa and spent ten years with the New York Giants.

Those are a few names that you probably have heard of but there are many other high school football players in our area that you may not have heard of who did amazing things during their careers at their respective schools.

For instance, Jessie Manuel from Tioga Central School District comes to mind. If you aren't from the area, you may not recognize his name. Manuel was small for a running back, standing only 5'8" and weighing 150 lbs. but there was no stopping him. When he spoke to Pressconnects in 2015, he was asked how many games that he had missed due to injury.

His answer was "zero". He was as durable as they come.

For a small guy, he toted the rock like a workhorse running back, carrying the ball 34 times for 302 yards and 5 touchdowns in Tioga's win in the 2015 state title game.

Manuel is toward the top of the career stat leaderboard on the New York State Public High School Association's website, but he's not alone.

Take a look at all the Southern Tier natives, who are on the state's football leaderboard, you may be surprised at how many have made this illustrious list:
