Monday, January 17th was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so schools in the Southern Tier had the day off. It also turned out to be the perfect snow day for them too. If you haven't traveled past the Maine-Endwell High School after a fresh snowfall then you are missing out.

Kids (and their parents) come from everywhere with sleds and snow tubes in hand to take that little trip down the hill. I wasn't sure how many children still went sledding these days. I was thrilled to see everyone going down the hill and enjoying the day.

It reminded me of my childhood when times were so much simpler. When I was growing up, we would go out for hours at my Grandma Kipp's house and go down the hill, across the pond, and into the snowbank on the other side.

We would be outside until it got dark...and then take one more trip before calling it a day. I found myself thinking about that while listening to the laughter as the kids went gliding down the hill. It also made me realize how much I miss my Grandma Kipp (and Grandma Pitcher). If your grandparents are still alive, let them know how much YOU LOVE THEM.

They looked like ants coming down a white anthill and it was an awesome sight. The kids have been hit hard mentally during this pandemic, so it was nice to hear them laugh and play without a care in the world. It's a time that they'll always remember and hopefully help them forget all the hogwash that surrounds them now.
