Maine-Endwell State Title Caps Off Perfect Weekend For Southern Tier
While at one point it seemed like Maine-Endwell's season was in jeopardy, the year has ended with yet another state championship for the Spartans.
Maine-Endwell took the Class B state championship by defeating Pleasantville 21-12. The win capped off a super successful weekend for high school football teams at states. The Tioga Tigers and Chenango Forks Blue Devils both shut out their opponents en route to state title victories on Friday.

The Spartans' path to the title was a little less straightforward though. Maine-Endwell began the game by going down early on a long touchdown pass for Pleasantville on a smooth, over-the-shoulder catch by receiver Daniel Picart.
Given the victory, it's strange to think the title train could have been derailed part way through the season.
A late October ruling by the Section IV Athletic Council had stated that Maine-Endwell needed to forfeit a handful of this season's victories due to what they deemed an ineligible player -- a decision that would have made M-E's record 1-6 at the time, instead of 6-1.
Maine-Endwell won the appeal though, as they provided proof that the player in question was in fact eligible and the wins were reinstated. The rest they say, is history.
