Football Is Back In The Southern Tier
After the big game ended last weekend, I wrote an article asking "Now what" for fans of football. Since we love the sport so much, waiting until it picks back up again is agonizing.
With pro football getting back to a normal schedule barring any issues, that will mean the second week of August. We've dealt with it year after year, so no big deal. But all is not lost for football between now and August.
Remember when high school football was delayed for 2020 with no set date for its return? It was a huge disappointment for all who are involved in the sport along with those in each community who support high school football in the Southern Tier of New York.
It's a part of the fall season that we look forward to, and to have the season postponed during the fall due to the pandemic was certainly heartbreaking for many.
But, according to a report from WBNG-TV 12, Section IV Athletics has set the dates by releasing the high school football schedule for this spring. The report states that the Section IV high school football season will begin the weekend of March 19th and go through the weekend of April 3rd.
That's great news for each community in Section IV, as well as the athletes, coaching staff and students. This includes school districts in in the counties of Broome, Tioga, Delaware, Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, Cayuga, Chenango, Thompkins and Otsego.
You can see the full schedule from the WBNG-TV 12 article for each team in the Southern Tier of New York in Section IV.
