Every year around Halloween, our theme weekend becomes a Classic Rock From the Grave Weekend. It kind of goes well with the season.

I state this upfront, it's not to poke fun at people who are deceased, it's to honor those great rockers who have left us, including the musicians who have passed away in 2017. This year there have been quite a few.

This year we've lost Tom Petty, Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks from the Allman Brothers Band, John Wetton from Asia, Uriah Heep and King Crimson, Geoff Nichols from Black Sabbath, J.Geils, Dave Hlubek from Molly Hatchet, Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and Walter Becker from Steely Dan. That's a lot of rock talent.

Saturday and Sunday we will honor those artists and many others who have crossed over to the concert in the sky.

As you enjoy your weekend, party with 99.1 The Whale! Take us wherever you go. You can hear us on your radio at 99.1 FM, online at 991thewhale.com, on your mobile phone with the new Whale App – search for 99.1 The Whale in your app store, and also as 99.1 The Whale on radioPup!
