Byrne Dairy vice president Christian Brunelle said the company is "excited" that it will be able to proceed with development of the Endicott store.

Brunelle expected work to demolish the old Friendly's restaurant building on the site would get underway soon. He did not provide a date for the anticipated opening of the new store.

Brunelle confirmed that the state Department of Transportation rejected Bryne's request to allow left turns onto East Main Street from the business.

The DOT expressed safety concerns if left turns were permitted. Customers will be able to utilize a traffic signal at the Loder Avenue intersection to proceed east from the store.
