Born in 1921, Mr. Harold Gary was only 18-years-old when World War II began and 24-years-old when it ended.

Mr. Gary served in the United States Navy during World War II and belongs to an elite and exclusive group of veterans who not only served in World War II but who are still alive today. The Veterans of Foreign Wars organization estimates that of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II, only 100,000 are still alive.

Not only is Mr. Gary a World War II veteran, but he is about to celebrate his 100th birthday. On Friday, May 28, 2021, Mr. Harold Gary of Montrose will join the centenarian club, and to recognize Mr. Gary’s momentous birthday, a celebration is being planned for one day in early June in Montrose. Organizers promise dates, details, and COVID-related logistics as soon as those are ironed out but in the meantime, Twin Tiers Honor Flight will be collecting birthday cards for Mr. Gary.

If you will be mailing a card or letter to Twin Tiers Honor Flight for Mr. Gary, please make sure that it is postmarked no later than Monday, May 24, 2021, if you live locally to Montrose, Pennsylvania, and if you live out of the area, please make sure that it is postmarked no later than Monday, May 17, 2021.
