Binghamton Central Bus Station to Reopen to Commercial Carriers

Buses from New York City and other distant locales will again be discharging and picking up passengers at the Greater Binghamton Intermodal Transportation Hub in a few days. 

Three months after Broome County Executive Jason Garnar closed the Binghamton bus terminal to outside commercial traffic like Greyhound and Coach USA to halt the spread of the coronavirus from hotspot areas like New York City, the restriction will be lifted on June 15.

Broome County was the only location in New York State to prohibit commercial bus traffic.

Meanwhile, local transportation is also getting closer to returning to normal.

Garnar says Broome County Transit will resume collecting fares Monday, June 15 and passengers will again be able to board BC transit buses through the front doors.

The county says it will continue with elevated daily cleaning and disinfecting and staff will be frequently spot-disinfecting commonly touched surfaces.

Drivers will also be cleaning fare boxes as needed and facial coverings are still required for everyone.
