A Vestal woman died after she was struck by a minivan in the town of Union.

Authorities say 87-year-old Nellie Smith was trying to cross Union Center Maine  Highway when she was hit by a Toyota Sienna.
According to New York State Police, troopers and Broome County sheriff's deputies were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators say Smith was pronounced dead at the scene on Route 26.
The minivan that struck Smith was driven by a 74-year-old Endicott woman. Police did not release the name of the driver.
