A Wind Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. November 27 to 10 a.m. Thanksgiving  Day. Officials say west to northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with 40 to 50 mph
gusts are expected.

The Advisory area covers Chenango, Oneida, Cortland, Tompkins, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Yates, Onondaga, Madison, Broome, Seneca and Southern Cayuga counties in New York and In Pennsylvania: Bradford, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties. Delaware County is not under the advisory but a weather statement still cautions of possible wind gusts of 40 miles an hour, especially at higher elevations.

Residents who have decorated outside for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas should bear in mind that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Inflatables should be deflated in high winds and other decorations tied down.

New York State Electric and Gas says it is also preparing since tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

For those traveling for the holidays, officials are urging extra caution especially if operating a high profile vehicle.
